Bake in greased cake pan at 350 for 45 - 55 mins (or until toothpick comes out clean).
Combine sugar and lemon juice over medium heat. Bring to a boil.
Boil until sugar dissolves. Set aside to thicken and cool while cake finishes cooking.
When cake comes out of oven, pour lemon syrup into bottom of cake and allow cake 10 mins (approx) to absorb liquid.
