Can we all agree that there is nothing like some seriously good chili!? Can we also agree that the stuff in the can is NOT to be mentioned in this conversation!? Everybody has a chili recipe. They all have a little something in them that makes it special. My mom even won a competition once with alligator meat chili. So here’s my brag moment, my husband won a chili contest at our church with this recipe. I usually say he won with MY recipe, but in all honesty, he and I perfected this recipe about 5 years ago together.
Some people can’t believe that I’m giving away my prize winning chili recipe. But the truth is, I believe that the taste of food is unique to the person who makes it. So even if I give you “my” recipe, your touch, your heart, your love will make it taste absolutely wonderful.
Circling back to my original commentary, everybody has a little something that makes their chili special. So here’s my not-so-secret-anymore ingredient: Beer! We’ve tried several types of beer and have settled that the best beer for chili is Guinness or Bodington (its lighter cousin). Try it and let me know what you think.
