Who is Chef Lorious?
That’s a great question! Well, it’s quite simple…I’m a wife, mom, daughter, sister and friend.
My father used to say that cooking is a way of expressing love. It wasn’t until after he passed away in 2007 that I started to really catch the heart of what he was saying. My grandmother was a terrific cook, and I grew up around some of the most amazing women, whose cooking was so good it made you wanna slap somebody! (That’s code for I grew up in church!)
My family is originally from Alabama, but I was born and raised in California. My husband affectionately refers to my home state as “Calibama”. That means I love salad (California) and Collard Greens (Alabama). So fast forward a whole bunch of years…..and here I am.
Over the years, I have developed a love for sharing my heart with the people I share my life with. That includes my immediate and extended family, friends, colleagues, neighbors, etc. I share my heart with my food. I put my heart and soul into every dish I prepare. If I make you a pie, you’re going to taste the sweetness of love in every bite. If I make you a pot of soup, you’re going to feel the warmth and care it was made with.
My motto is simple: “Put your heart into every dish.” I call my kitchen the Love Lab. I’m excited to share my heart, recipes and Love Lab with you.
